PROVISIONAL MEMBER

Those interested in becoming a member of the JLD must first submit an application by the published deadline with payment to be a provisional member. The application for membership is available to the public, and explains the responsibilities of Provisional Membership. Provisional dues and course fees shall be remitted upon acceptance into Provisional Membership. Course classes are held periodically throughout the year.

A Provisional Member is not eligible to vote. All Provisional members shall be required to complete the Provisional course and meet other requirements as established by the Board of Directors, whereupon they will be approved for Active Membership.

ACTIVE

Active members are those members who have completed Provisional training and justify Active membership by demonstrating volunteer service to their communities and the JLD. To remain in good standing, Active members shall fulfill requirements and adhere to JLD practices as determined by the Board of Directors.

Active members are eligible to vote and hold leadership positions.

Each Active Member shall give full commitment to at least one (1) JLD organizational placement per year; pay annual dues by April 1st of each year and fulfill any additional volunteer commitment with respect to a fundraiser or program approved by the membership as a requirement.

ACTIVE GOLD

Active Gold members are those members who have fulfilled the requirements for Sustaining membership, but who choose to retain voting privileges and accept all financial obligations of Active Membership in the JLD.

Active Gold Membership is a sub-set of Active membership. It is available to qualified members who wish to maintain an active role in the JLD and be able to vote but is not eligible to be an Officer of the JLD (President, President-Elect, Treasurer, or Secretary).

Active Gold members are required to: pay annual dues, pay any other financial obligation of Active membership, and have an annual interview with their assigned advisor.

SUSTAINING

Sustaining members are those members who have fulfilled the required years and/or obligations of Active membership in the JLD (excluding leaves of absence) and who continue to support the JLD and their communities. Service from leagues other than the JLD will be counted toward fulfillment of Active membership requirements.

Sustaining members are required to pay dues unless otherwise noted. They shall have the privilege of sitting on committees as Sustaining committee members. Except as approved by the Board of Directors, Sustaining members may only chair Ad Hoc or Sustainer Council Committees. Sustaining members are not eligible to vote except as a Sustaining member of the Board of Directors. Sustaining members are encouraged to participate in JLD activities.

Provisional, Active, Active Gold and Sustainer members in good standing have the privilege of transferring membership from one Junior League to another. A member who transfers between Junior Leagues shall be granted the status consistent with the specifications of membership categories of the receiving Junior League.
