Transferring in to Detroit
The Junior League of Detroit welcomes all women who wish to transfer their membership from their former League to the JLD.
In order to begin the transfer process, please contact your current League and ask them to transfer your membership to the JLD through the AJLI Transfer system. Once you have do so, contact our office, (313)881-0040 or firstname.lastname@example.org, with your local contact information.
Once your transfer is approved, you will be welcomed into our organization, and if an Active, contacted by our Nominating & Placement Chairman, who will place you on an active committee and assign you an advisor who will help you navigate your transition. She will be available to answer any questions you might have and guide you on your path in the JLD.
We look forward to welcoming you to the metro Detroit area, and to our League! We hope your association with us will be a happy and productive one.
Transferring out of Detroit
If you are moving to a new community, or find you work or live closer to another Junior League and wish to transfer your membership, contact the JLD Office Manager to begin the process. Only those members who are in good standing and current on their JLD dues and other financial obligations are eligible for transfer.
It is advisable to visit the web site of the league you wish to transfer to, and learn about their transfer policies, as some leagues limit the number of tranfers and others may have different membership requirements and obligations.
Resigning Membership in the JLD
If, for any reason, you find you are unable to continue your membership in the Junior League of Detroit, you can resign in good standing and rejoin at any time when circumstances allow. Please see the JLD Standing Rules for more information on being “in good standing.” Your request must be made in writing, to the Chairman of Nominating & Placement.
