State Public Affairs Committee of the Michigan State Council of Junior Leagues (SPAC)

The State Public Affairs Committee (SPAC) of the Michigan State Council of Junior Leagues is dedicated to educating members and the general public on important issues and to advocating for change on behalf of those who do not have a voice.

SPAC’s two current focus areas are:

1) issues impacting children and youth in foster care and
2) issues related to human trafficking.

The Public Affairs Committee is seeking input regarding the selection of a new focus area. Send your suggestions to PublicAffairs@JLDetroit.org.

For the 2024-2025, the Junior League of Detroit is represented on SPAC by Emily Ancinec, Committee Chairperson, and Committee Members Darby Lindstrom, JoAnne Wolff and Victoria Edwards.

In addition to meeting monthly as a committee with hired lobbyist Noah Smith of Capitol Services, Inc. and meeting separately with state legislators and other advocates, SPAC hosts an annual Day at the Capitol event.  All JLD members in March at the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing.

For more information, please contact JLD Public Affairs Chairperson Emily
